Players in the travel tackle football program will work with coaches to learn the fundamentals of tackle football and to compete in games with other area communities. This program will emphasize teaching the basic concepts of offense, defense and special teams to prepare players for future participation in football at the middle school level. An emphasis will be placed on techniques that improve safety and on developing positive sportsmanship.

• PRACTICES: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 pm
  • Location: The football field behind Howar Middle School.
• GAMES: Various locations, Most in Ottumwa
• FEE: $40.00
• EQUIPMENT: Each player needs to purchase shoulder pads, helmet, jersey, and mouthguard
  • Some team equipment is available for those in need, otherwise equipment is purchased individually with support of coaches to ensure proper safety ratings.

We’re happy to assist our local youth tackle football program by providing online registration through the YMCA.

Please note that Youth Tackle Football is an independent community program and is not operated or managed by the YMCA. The YMCA’s role is limited to facilitating registration.
